Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

This website is a personal portfolio of Hans van Leeuwen. I value your privacy and aim to collect as little data as possible. This page explains what data is and isn't processed, in line with the GDPR.

What I don't do

Likes

When you like a page, only an anonymous counter is stored per page. No IP address, name or other personal information is saved. Your browser remembers whether you've already liked a page via local storage (localStorage) — this never leaves your device.

Traces

On some pages you can leave a short, anonymous message ("trace"). When you do, a one-way hash of your IP address — not the IP address itself — is stored once, to prevent the same message being posted multiple times on the same page. This hash cannot be traced back to your IP address or identity, is not used for tracking, and is not shared with third parties.

Self-hosted fonts

This website uses fonts hosted on its own server. No external font services such as Google Fonts are used.

YouTube

Some pages contain YouTube videos via youtube-nocookie.com. YouTube may place cookies when playing videos. Please refer to Google's privacy policy for more information.

Server logs

Like virtually every website, this server typically keeps an automatic technical access log (including IP address, timestamp and requested page), managed by the hosting provider for security and troubleshooting. These logs are not actively analysed by me, are not linked to other data, and are usually deleted automatically after a short period.

Legal basis

For the processing described above (anonymous counters for likes and traces), the legal basis is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR): showing engagement with my work in a way that doesn't affect your privacy.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Since this website collects almost no personal data, there is in practice little to access, correct or transfer — the local storage mentioned above (likes) can be cleared via your browser settings, and you can always ask me to remove a trace hash.

If you have questions or complaints about how data is processed on this website, please contact me (see below). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
